In July 1993 a 34’ new sailing boat stranded because of some unfavorable sea weather conditions. Unfortunately the skipper was not able to sail away from the coast and the yacht shipwrecked nearby Tarquinia in a beach called “Pian di Spille”, which was part of a military shooting range.
Immediately after the occurrence Stefano Ruscitti was asked by the vessel Hull Insurers to inspect the damages sustained by the vessel and on the other hand to arrange the vessel “logistics” since the foreign Owner had to fly back home.
A convoy had to be arranged through a crane and a truck, obtaining special permissions to work on that area by the Italian Army.
The vessel was then transferred to a shipyard in Civitavecchia and from there launched and towed to Porto Santo Stefano, since the propulsion and sailing systems were out of order.
Once the vessel was in Porto Santo Stefano, she was repaired in a couple of months.
